Embrace Graceful Aging: Rediscover Your Purpose, Joy, and Faith Together.

Hello, I’m Cheryl—daughter, granddaughter, and a happily devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. I’m here to encourage women who are in their “Golden Season”  that there’s abundant life waiting for us. Growing older doesn’t have to mean fading away; it can be a chance to deepen our faith, share our wisdom, and live fully in God’s grace. Join me in discovering practical ways to thrive, honor our experiences, and stand confidently in the purpose He designed for us.

MY STORY

I grew up with my loving parents and grandparents, but it was my grandparents who first introduced me to Jesus—long before I could read. Then at the tender age of eight, I was baptized at our home church, The First Baptist Church of Westbury by Pastor Stanley L. Hines. Yet, as life passed, I veered from that solid foundation I once knew to make choices that led me down paths I did not need to go.

Eventually, my path took me from New York to Baltimore with three young children in tow, I needed a fresh start. There, I met 2 people who changed the trajectory of where I thought my life was going: a compassionate social worker named Sheila, and a humble pastor named Reverend Melvin J. Murphy. Through them, I rediscovered the Jesus I loved as a child—only this time, I fully embraced Him as my Savior and Lord.

I was re-baptized at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, laying my burdens at Jesus’ feet. He wiped away years of guilt and shame, redeemed my past mistakes, and unveiled my God-given identity.

Moving to Westbury Long Island in 1998, I re-joined my home church and answered the call to ministry, under the leadership of Bishop Lionel Harvey Sr. Pastor of the now” First Baptist Cathedral of Westbury,” A new Pastor, a new church name, and a new ME!

I soon enrolled in New York Theological Seminary and preached my first sermon in 2005. My heart overflowed with gratitude as I realized how far the Lord had brought me and yet more gratitude knowing He is still bringing me on!

I served as Sunday School co-superintendent, founded a Film Ministry, and launched a Domestic Violence awareness ministry. I discovered that the relationship struggles faced by women in the world often appear in the church too. But by turning to God’s throne for guidance, we find unity, compassion, and true sisterhood.

Now in my golden years, I see how society often sidelines older women. Yet I firmly believe our experiences are a wellspring of wisdom. Having grown through trials and triumphs, I’m eager to share practical insights that can help us age gracefully, thrive spiritually, and value the priceless legacies we hold within. Let’s embrace this chapter of life with faith and courage!
